FULLEREN-LIKE STRUCTURE OF NANOCRYSTALLINE MoS2 TRIBOLOGICAL COATINGS PREPARED WITH COMPOSITION- MODULATED INTERFACES

چکیده
Nanocomposite thin film coatings of MoS2-added CrN/TiAlN tribological multilayers were prepared by reactive co-sputtering of Ti/Al 50/50 at.%, pure chromium and MoS2 targets of the independently d.c. driven unbalanced magnetrons. Nano-scaled tri-layer system with periodic thickness in a range of 4-10 nm of CrN, TiAlN and MoS2 compound layer with a broad interface, in which the composition is continuously varying, was developed. The 4-5 μm thick coatings were deposited on high-speed steel substrates for tribological measurements. Structure characterization of the as-deposited coatings was performed by cross sectional transmission electron microscopy (XTEM) analysis. The crystallinity of the CrN and TiAlN sub-layers in the nano-scale multilayered system decreases with increasing thickness of the MoS2 sub-layer. It has been found that the structural properties and hardness of the films were correlated with the multiple-target design and MoS2 nanolayer thickness.

The tribological properties of Cu-Ni3Al-MoS2 composite coating deposited by magnetron sputtering
In industrial applications, most materials are exposed to wear and friction because multiple conditions are used. However, the tribological properties of these materials can be improved with different techniques. One such technique that improves the frictional property of a surface is the use of self-lubricating coatings. In this study, multicomponent coatings of nominal composition Cu-Ni3Al-Mo...

AbstractSputtered MoS2 coatings have been mostly used as a solid lubricant. In this investigation, MoSx/Ni composite coatings with Ni contents varying from 0 to 22 % were deposited onto steel substrate using a DC magnetron sputter process. The MoS2/Ni ratio in the coatings was controlled by sputtering the composite targets. The composition, microstructure, and mechanical properties of the...

Tribological coatings made of MoS2 and WSe2 phases and their corresponding combinations with tungsten carbide (WC) were prepared by non-reactive magnetron sputtering of individual targets of similar composition. A comparative tribological analysis of these multiphase coatings was done in both ambient air (30-40% relative humidity, RH) and dry nitrogen (RH<7%) environments using the same tribome...
